Safety Dance Ballet

80s new wave — solo or with violin

Chorus-soaked guitar, wide synth pads, and a drum machine that never quite lets go of the downbeat. Safety Dance Ballet is the 80s set — the songs everyone still knows every word to, played live rather than triggered from a laptop.

New wave was built out of the same ingredients the rest of my work uses: repetition, texture, and a melody that arrives late and stays. That makes it a natural fit for the live-looping approach — the parts get stacked in front of you, and the set can lean atmospheric early in the night and turn into a dance floor later.

Lineups

Solo

Guitar, synth & effects

One player covering guitar, synth pads, and rhythm through live looping. The full 80s palette out of a single footprint — the option when the space or the budget won't stretch to a second player.

Duo

Guitar, synth & violin

With Wendi Westman on violin taking the top line over the synths and chorused guitar, as on "Pacific Coast Skyway" above. The hooks land harder when a second player is carrying them.
